ENERGY RATING AND 'A' RATED WINDOW SYSTEMS

Single glazed windows, or those installed before April 2002, could be losing heat and therefore money. Switching to energy efficient windows can save energy and reduce your heating bills by up to £461.00 per year*

The British Fenestration Rating Council states:
'If you live in a single glazed house and install Energy Efficient Windows, you could reduce the energy you use by 0.30 tonnes or 18% - almost reaching the Government target of 20% reduction per household.

Add to this other simple energy saving measures – such as insulating your home and turning down the central heating by 1° C - and you could be making a real impact on reducing your carbon footprint.

If you need a better reason than saving money then read the Buyer's Guide, it does not cost the earth to be energy efficient.
Because we do not produce dramatic television campaigns, we can supply energy efficient windows for a much lower cost than many of the national double glazing companies

ENERGY RATING AND 'A' RATED WINDOW SYSTEMS
With effect from October 2010 changes to building regulations in England and Wales came into force, Approved Document L1B deals with the Conservation of Fuel and Power and affects building work to existing properties. Under building regulations new and replacement windows must meet certain energy efficiency requirements.

A staggering 25%-30% of heat lost from houses is through the windows, from the homeowners point of view lost heat equates to lost money and to the environment it means more carbon is released as a result of higher fuel use. Replacing wooden windows with energy efficient A rated PVC-u windows could save £223.33 per year in heating costs as well as reducing noise, draughts and condensation

Windows are now rated in the same way as electrical appliances with an A, B, C etc rating to indicate energy usage. The energy rating is determined the 'U' Value which is a measure of how well heat passes through a material. The lower the 'U' Value the greater the resistance to heat flows and therefore the better the insulating qualities.

Other factors which influence heat loss include:

Low E coatings improve heating and cooling performance, by using the angle of the sun to either reflect heat, in summer or by absorbing heat in the winter
Thermally improved edge spacers and the addition of low conductance gases such as Argon within the sealed unit
Multi-Chambered frames to provide minimum air leakage and low heat transference

Our Well engineered A rated windows achieve a U Value of 1.4W/m²K and will reduce energy consumption while looking good for years to come. We provide A rated energy efficient windows for no additional cost so you can minimise your impact on the environment while both saving money and enhancing the appearance of your home.
